Melissa Bemis

Melissa spent many years as a client in the Bradford Clara Martin Center Offices.  After years of working on her own issues from childhood and adult trauma, Melissa realized something was missing in her life. Little did she know that everything that happened to her and how she received proper Mental Health treatment  would change the trajectory of her life. On June 12, 2026, Melissa will reach her three-year anniversary of working at The Clara Martin Center. Melissa began as a Peer Support Specialist working with adults in Randolph. In December of 2024, Melissa was promoted to Coordinator of the Peer Support Program. Melissa currently supervises two other Peer Support Specialists in their individual programs, sees clients in both Bradford and Randolph, and works on the Enhanced Mobile Crisis Team. Melissa also had the opportunity to work on the SOS-VT Grant program from the Department of Mental Health & FEMA. Melissa currently sits on the Zero-Suicide Committee & the LGBTQIA+ Committee at CMC. In her spare time, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family, playing with her "dog child", Peanut, and reading. Melissa is passionate about the Peer Program because when she was a client, this service was not yet offered, and she knows how valuable it would have been. It is both an honor and a privilege to be part of the ever-expanding Vt Peer Program. Melissa embraces the ideals of Intentional Peer Support and someday hopes to be a trainer. Melissa looks forward to meeting the other Peer Leaders from each DA every month and has enjoyed the chance to co-reflect and get to know each one.
